What Are Medical-Grade Facials & Skin Treatments?

Medical-grade facials and skin treatments are advanced, results-driven therapies that go further than a traditional spa facial, targeting specific concerns such as acne, pigmentation, dullness, and loss of firmness. At Ultimate You Med Spa in Colorado Springs they combine clinical training, FDA-cleared devices, and professional-strength ingredients to work beneath the surface of the skin rather than on top of it.

Unlike a standard facial, a medical-grade treatment is built around your skin type and your goals, so the plan that clears congestion is not the plan that evens out sun damage. Living at altitude is hard on skin. Thin dry air and strong year-round UV show up on your face, and these treatments are how we answer that.

What Are the Benefits of Medical-Grade Facials & Skin Treatments?

Your provider assesses your skin and designs a treatment using the right combination of exfoliation, microneedling, light therapy, or laser energy. Together these work to:

  • Boost collagen production
  • Improve skin tone and texture
  • Minimize pores, fine lines, and pigmentation
  • Rehydrate and refresh dull skin
  • Calm redness and support a healthier skin barrier

Each treatment is non-invasive and tailored to what your skin needs that month, which is why the plan changes as your skin does.

Who Are the Best Candidates for Facials & Skin Treatments?

These treatments suit anyone looking to:

  • Treat acne or acne scars
  • Fade sun spots, melasma, or redness
  • Reduce fine lines, minimize pores, or smooth rough texture
  • Rehydrate and refresh dull, tired skin
  • Maintain clear, healthy skin through Colorado winters and summers alike
  • Build a routine with a provider who tracks their skin over time
Facial Treatment First Step

Facial Treatment First Step

Your skincare works hard, our facials work deeper.

Arrive with a clean, product-free face, and avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications such as aspirin for 2 to 3 days before your appointment. These simple steps help your skin respond well and let a medical-grade treatment work at its deepest level. Every visit starts with a skin analysis, so if a different treatment suits you better that day, your provider will say so.

What to Expect on the Day of Your Facial

Your session begins with a personalized skin analysis, then a treatment built for what your provider finds: gentle exfoliation, extractions, active ingredients, light or laser energy, or collagen stimulation.

Some treatments are purely relaxing. Others, such as peels or microneedling, leave brief redness or light flaking. In most cases you can go straight back to your day. Your provider designs the plan around your skin type and your goals, with no unnecessary downtime and nothing one-size-fits-all.

Facials Final Step

Facials Recovery

Downtime depends entirely on which treatment you have, so your provider will tell you what to expect before you book.

Light treatments (DiamondGlow® and BBL)

Mild redness, similar to a light sunburn, that usually settles within 24 to 48 hours. Most clients return to normal activities the same day.

Moderate treatments (microneedling, pigmentation and acne protocols)

Redness and mild sensitivity for 2 to 4 days. Skin may feel tight or lightly flaky. Makeup can usually be worn within 24 to 48 hours, on your provider’s guidance.

Advanced treatments (Fotona 4D® and deeper resurfacing)

Redness and swelling that may last 3 to 5 days, then gradual improvement over the following weeks.

How Long Until I See Results?

Many clients see an immediate glow from a treatment like DiamondGlow® or BBL. Texture smooths over 1 to 2 weeks, and pigmentation and redness improve after 1 to 3 sessions. Collagen-stimulating treatments such as microneedling and Fotona 4D® firm gradually over 4 to 12 weeks, so the change is progressive rather than sudden.

How Long Will My Results Last?

It depends on the treatment. DiamondGlow® holds for 4 to 6 weeks, BBL for 3 to 6 months depending on sun exposure, and microneedling for 4 to 6 months. Fotona 4D® can last up to 12 months with maintenance. Acne protocols improve skin over the long term with consistent care, and pigmentation correction lasts when it is paired with good skincare and daily SPF.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

We usually recommend maintenance every 3 to 6 months to hold your results, aiming for something sustainable rather than one dramatic change. General guidelines:

  • DiamondGlow® monthly for ongoing glow
  • Three BBL treatments spaced about four weeks apart
  • Three microneedling sessions for full collagen stimulation
  • One to three Fotona 4D® treatments, depending on skin laxity
  • Three to six sessions for corrective acne or pigmentation work

Your provider will build a timeline around your skin, not a template.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Curious about what a facial can actually do for your skin? We have answered the questions we hear most often, so you can walk in informed, comfortable, and ready for your appointment.

How do medical-grade facials work?

Advanced skin treatments use controlled energy (laser, light, radiofrequency) or precision resurfacing to improve how the skin functions rather than covering a concern up. Depending on what you need, a treatment can:

  • Stimulate collagen production
  • Improve skin texture and tone
  • Reduce pigmentation and redness
  • Treat acne and scarring
  • Restore brightness and firmness
Are facials painful?

Most treatments are very tolerable. You may feel warmth or a light snapping sensation during BBL, mild pressure or vibration during microneedling, and gentle heat during a Fotona treatment. Topical numbing is available where it is appropriate, so tell your provider if you would like it.

Is there any downtime after a facial?

Most treatments involve minimal downtime. Mild redness is common, and some flaking or sensitivity can follow the more corrective treatments. Normal activities can usually resume the same day or within 24 to 48 hours, and your provider will tell you when to go back to workouts, sun exposure, and makeup.

When will I see results?

Some treatments give you a glow in the same week. Others, such as microneedling or collagen-stimulating lasers, build gradually over several weeks as your skin rebuilds itself. Your provider will set expectations for the specific treatment before you book it.
